So, we may be a bit biased, but we are both in agreement that this is Book Club’s BEST PARTY EVER!! And we were so thrilled to be at the receiving end of all this wonderfulness. Kids at heart, Lynn and Kara have never outgrew the simple delights of childhood, like: watching movies, colouring and doodling, daydreaming, playing dress up, napping, pouting and PLAYING GAMES! Knowing (some of) these things about us, our club friends threw us a super FUNtastic party featuring all of our favourite games. When we got to work in the morning, there were banners hung up featuring characters from Mario Kart, Angry Birds, Clue, Monopoly, Operation, and more. All of the food was given unique names to fit the theme from the Angry Curds on the Parcheese Tray, to the Fruit Ninja Fruit Platter and the Scrabble Cupcakes. Then, after we had finished eating, we played a few rounds of Win, Lose or Draw. There is already talks of incorporating this game into our Christmas party (especially now that we have identified the snipers and the weakest links!)

If we had to guess what Akiko’s favourite thing in the world is, we would have to say her puppy, Buffy, first and foremost, and other cute puppies as a distant second. Up there also would be chilli and travelling. Since we’ve ‘been there, celebrated that’ last year at Akiko’s chili party, we decided to combine two of her OTHER favourite things: puppies and travelling, and voila: the International Puppies theme was born. Using the Scholastic Level 2 Reader, “Travel-Size Pups Around the World” as our inspiration, we had a puppy representing each of Akiko’s favourite cities around the world to travel to. A puppy in a beret? A puppy geisha? What could be cuter than this?
